The Grand St. Leger
Hotel - The History
The original Turf
Inn was built in 1810, becoming a private residence until 1854 when it
was bought by the county. The building proudly housed the West Yorkshire
Regiment of Matilda until 1882 when it again passed to private hands. In
1920 it was converted into accommodation for the stable lads and served
the turf until it was purchased and converted into The Grand St. Leger
Hotel.
